Supported Code Systems
Assurlytics supports ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and HCPCS Level II. Learn what each system covers and how they differ.
Documentation draft — not a verified product specification. Code-system categories are ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and HCPCS Level II. Specific detail panels and actions require live verification.
Overview
Assurlytics currently supports the following code systems in Code Lookup.
ICD-10-CM
Diagnosis codes for outpatient and professional services. ICD-10-CM is used for diagnosis coding in U.S. healthcare settings. See ICD-10-CM.
ICD-10-PCS
Inpatient procedure classification. ICD-10-PCS classifies procedures performed in U.S. inpatient hospital settings. It is not interchangeable with CPT or HCPCS Level II. See ICD-10-PCS.
HCPCS Level II
Codes for healthcare services, supplies, equipment, and other items. HCPCS Level II includes codes for various products, supplies, services and other items not represented solely by the diagnosis classification. See HCPCS Level II.
Distinct systems — do not confuse them
ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS Level II, and CPT are distinct code systems with different purposes, structures, and code formats. A code from one system is not interchangeable with a code from another. This documentation site does not publish CPT codes.
A code may have multiple similar descriptions, restrictions, effective dates or documentation implications. Research must account for the correct classification and code year. Always keep the selected code set visible so you do not mistake a diagnosis for a procedure or supply code.
Verified examples used on this site
- ICD-10-CM E11.9 — Type 2 diabetes mellitus without complications. This example demonstrates code lookup, not diagnosis selection for an actual patient.
- ICD-10-PCS 0FT44ZZ — a verified example code, shown without an invented description.
For HCPCS Level II, the source document names G0008 as a commonly used example related to administration of influenza virus vaccine, but states that its current description and applicable policy must be validated before it is treated as a live example. An HCPCS search must search the selected HCPCS code set; it must not silently return an unrelated ICD-10-CM result such as G00.
