Overview
This reference summarises the code systems supported in Code Lookup.
ICD-10-CM
- Purpose: diagnosis classification for outpatient and professional services.
- Example: E11.9 — Type 2 diabetes mellitus without complications.
- Detail page: ICD-10-CM.
ICD-10-PCS
- Purpose: inpatient procedure classification.
- Example code: 0FT44ZZ. Its details are shown in the application; no description is invented here.
- Structure: seven-character codes. A code's meaning depends on its section, body system, root operation, body part, approach, device and qualifier as applicable.
- Detail page: ICD-10-PCS.
HCPCS Level II
- Purpose: healthcare services, supplies, equipment, and other items.
- Example note: G0008 is named in the source document as a commonly used example related to administration of influenza virus vaccine, but its current description must be validated before it is treated as a live example. An HCPCS search must not return an unrelated ICD-10-CM result such as G00.
- Detail page: HCPCS Level II.
Distinct systems
ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS Level II, and CPT are distinct systems. Do not use a code from one system as if it belonged to another. This site does not publish CPT codes.
